2026 Estimated tax payment Instructions

Below you’ll find step-by-step instructions to help you make any estimated federal, state, or local income tax payments.

Estimated income tax payments are due on a quarterly basis. The following dates apply to estimated payments for the 2026 tax year:

  • April 15, 2026

  • June 15, 2026

  • September 15, 2026

  • January 15, 2027

 

 

Federal Estimated tax payments

    1. Click here to visit the IRS Direct Pay site

    2. Reason for Payment – “Estimated Tax”

    3. Apply Payment to “1040ES (for 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ)”

    4. Tax Period for payment = Current Calendar Year*

    5. Select “Continue”

    6. Select “Continue” on the pop up that says “Please Confirm”

    7. Verification of payer personal information

    8. Tax Year for Verification = Previous Tax Return year

    9. Filing Status – Shown on your previous Tax Return

    10. For the remaining steps, use your personal information and select Continue.

    11. Input Bill-pay bank details

    12. Enter payment amount

    13. Enter your email address to receive email confirmation of your payment

    14. Follow prompts to confirm and complete

    15. Upload your confirmation to the Vault upon receipt

    * If you are making a Q4 payment in January, use the previous calendar year. For any questions, contact tax@humaninvesting.com.

 

 

STATE Estimated TAX PAYMENTS

    1. Click here to visit the Oregon Department of Revenue site 

    2. Under “Quick Links” select “Make a Payment”

    3. Select “Pay now with checking or savings”

    4. Select "Individual”

    5. Under ID Type “Social Security Number”

    6. Fill out the remaining information

    7. Select “no” for “Did you receive a notice letter with a payment voucher?” and click “next”

    8. Under account information, use the following: 

      a. Account type = “Personal Income Tax”

      b. Payment type = “Estimated Payment” 

      c. Filing Frequency = Annual 

      d. Tax Year = Current Calendar Year*

      e. Click “next”

    9. Enter your bank information and payment amount

    10. Upload your confirmation to the Vault upon receipt

local Estimated tax payments

    1. Visit City Portland’s website

    2. Under the “Payments” section, select “Make a Payment”

    3. Select the blue “Next” box

    4. Select “Individual” and then select "Next”

    5. On the Payment Type page, select Return Tax, then click Next.

    6. On the Account Type page, select Metro Supportive Housing Personal Tax, then click Next.

    7. On the Taxpayer ID page, select SSN – Social Security Number, then enter your SSN twice, then click Next.

    8. On the Return Payment Type page, select Quarterly Estimated Payment, then click Next. 

    9. On the Filing Period page, enter the current Calendar Year*, then click Next.

    10. On the Contact Information page, enter your personal information. At the bottom left of the page, click Verify Address, work through the prompts, click Next.

    11. On the Payment Method page, select your payment type (either Bank Account or Credit/Debit Card), then click Next.
      Note: There is a service fee for Credit/Debit Cards.

    12. On the Payment page, 

      • If you selected Bank Account:

      • Enter the amount as instructed by your Human Investing advisor.

      • Enter your bank account information.

      • On the Review and Submit page, review the information, then click Submit. 

    13. If you selected Credit/Debit Card: 

      • Enter the amount as instructed by your Human Investing advisor, then click Next.

    14. On the Review and Submit page, review the information, then click Next.

    15. You’ll be re-directed to a payment processor. Enter the required payment information.

    16. Upload your confirmation to the Vault upon receipt

    1. Visit City Portland’s website

    7. On the Taxpayer ID page, select SSN – Social Security Number, then enter your SSN twice, then click Next.

    8. On the Return Payment Type page, select Quarterly Estimated Payment, then click Next. 

    9. On the Filing Period page, enter the current Calendar Year*, then click Next.

    10. On the Contact Information page, enter your personal information. At the bottom left of the page, click Verify Address, work through the prompts, click Next.

    11. On the Payment Method page, select your payment type (either Bank Account or Credit/Debit Card), then click Next.

    12. On the Payment page, 

      • If you selected Bank Account:

      • Enter the amount as instructed by your Human Investing advisor.

      • Enter your bank account information.

      • On the Review and Submit page, review the information, then click Submit. 

    13. If you selected Credit/Debit Card: 

      • Enter the amount as instructed by your Human Investing advisor, then click Next.

    14. On the Review and Submit page, review the information, then click Next.

    16. Upload your confirmation to the Vault upon receipt
